Services

OARS Community Transitions provides an array of services for disadvantaged people in our community.  Our focus is on those caught up, or at risk of being caught up, in the criminal justice system.  Briefly, these services are described in our brochure About OARS and include the following:

  • Reintegration Accommodation Services

A range of supported statewide accommodation services for men and women exiting prison.  Locations:  Adelaide metropolitan areas, Berri, Mount Gambier, Port Augusta and Port Lincoln.

  • Drug & Alcohol Counselling

Support for people seeking to manage and/or minimise the impact of their drug or alcohol use.

  • Gambling Support Service

Assessment and case management support for people with gambling issues, interfacing with the criminal justice system, and their families.

  • Emergency Financial Assistance

Brief intervention, assessment, practical assistance, referral and advocacy for people meet the criteria

  • Pre-Employment Services

A Fee for Services program that supports disadvantaged job seekers to address their individual barriers to enhance their opportunities to gain employment.

  • Therapeutic Courts Treatment Services

Various Court Diversion Programs (Drug, Gambling, Violence Prevention) that aim to reduce reoffending.

 
  • Partners of Prisoners

The Partners of Prisoners program was in operation from 1993 to 2010. It was commonly known as the POP program.

We are currently attempting to source funding to continue this valuable program.

  • Christmas Toy Program

Provides gifts for children aged 0-13 years, who have a parent in prison.

  • Second Chance Employers NEtwork (SCENE)

A register of employers who are prepared to employ people with barriers to employment (including ex-offenders) who are prepared to disclose their barriers and any offending history.

  • Centre for Restorative Justice

Policy development, research, training, support and facilitation to individuals, families, schools and organisations.

  • Cadell Bus

Every Sunday a bus takes visitors to Cadell Prison.  Bookings through the Morphett Street Office are essential on Ph: (08) 8218 0700.
