Services
OARS Community Transitions provides an array of services for disadvantaged people in our community. Our focus is on those caught up, or at risk of being caught up, in the criminal justice system. Briefly, these services include (for further information on these services, please click on the appropriate menu) :
- Supportive Accommodation Services
Provides supported accommodation for up to 12 months for single adults who are homeless, or at imminent risk of becoming homeless, and are interfacing with the justice system. Locations: Christie Downs, Brompton, Berri, Mount Gambier, Port Augusta and Port Lincoln.
- Drug & Alcohol Counselling
Support for people seeking to manage and/or minimise the impact of their drug or alcohol use
Assessment and case management support for people with gambling issues, interfacing with the criminal justice system, and their families.
Brief intervention, assessment, practical assistance, referral and advocacy for people meet the criteria
A Program that supports disadvantage job seekers to address their individual barriers to enhance their opportunities to gain employment.
- Youth ThroughCare Program
Provides case management and support for young people who interface/are at risk of interfacing with the Justice System.
The Parents Support Groups meets at our Office monthly.
The Partners of Prisoners program was in operation from 1993 to 2010. It was commonly known as the POP program.
We are currently attempting to source funding to continue this valuable program.
Provides gifts for children aged 0-13 years, who have a parent in prison.
- Second Chance Employers NEtwork (SCENE)
A register of employers who are prepared to employ people with barriers to employment (including ex-offenders) who are prepared to disclose their barriers and any offending history.
- Centre for Restorative Justice
Policy development, research, training, support and facilitation to individuals, families, schools and organisations.
Every Sunday a bus takes visitors to Cadell Prison. Bookings through the Morphett Street Office are essential on Ph: (08) 8218 0700.
Our shops are staffed by volunteers and provide good, inexpensive clothing, furniture and books. We appreciate donations of these items.
